Introducing H2∞ Eco

Introducing H2∞ Eco

5 Squirrels are pleased to announce the launch of H2∞ ECO which is a more environmentally friendly version of the existing H2∞ product. Both versions are available to order, and you have the option of replacing the existing formulation with the environmentally friendly version or having both versions in your range. If you just want to stick with the existing version of H2∞, then you do not need to do anything. The new formulation has had silicones removed to make it more reef safe and we have reduced the number of preservatives. In addition to being more environmentally friendly, H2∞ ECO is more hydrating as well as having added flavonolignans to help stop the breakdown of elastin and collagen.

H2∞ Ingredients we are keeping

We are keeping the active ingredients that have made H2∞ such a successful product.

  • Allantoin: A multi-purpose ingredient that moisturises, exfoliates, hydrates, rejuvenates, soothes and improves skin dullness without irritation.

  • Butylene Glycol: Non-irritant preservative.

  • Butyrospermum Parkii Butter: Helps to retain moisture and lessen the loss of water by forming a barrier on the skin's surface. It also works to reduce the appearance of rough patches and dry flakes on the skin.

  • Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum: Tara seed extract, super humectant.

  • Glycerin: A skin-friendly humectant which draws water to the skin and is known for its fantastic emollient and hydrating abilities. Glycerin contains anti-bacterial and softening properties making it an ideal candidate for sensitive skin care; treating dry, cracked skin, eczema, acne or burns and rashes.

  • Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil: Rich in nutrients such as Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Zinc and Vitamins A, K and E, it’s used effectively against inflammation and general irritations of the skin. Being very high in Vitamin E, it acts as an emollient which traps moisture and keeps skin well hydrated. It also helps prevent damage to cells by ultraviolet light and aids against premature ageing of skin by protecting the collagen and elastin content. A source for Beta-Carotene which is converted to vitamin A with benefits of protection from sun damage and free radicals. Omega-6 (Linoleic Acid) which is found in Helianthus Annuus Seed oil, assists with cell development and treating disorders such as eczema, acne and scarring.

  • Hydrolyzed Soy Protein: Hydrolyzed proteins are among a group of key nutrients that are often referred to as the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF). These compounds are responsible for maintaining moisture content and suppleness of the skin by attracting and retaining water to keep the outer layer of the stratum corneum hydrated. Hydrolyzed Proteins derived from plants such as corn, wheat and soybeans are substantive to both skin and hair. When applied to the skin, these proteins penetrate the outer layers of the stratum corneum to provide hydrating benefits while forming a film that minimises trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). Hydrolyzed Proteins have also been shown to reduce irritation caused by surfactants typically used in shampoos and cleansers.

  • Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate: Natural Reef-Safe preservative.

  • Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7: Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 consists of a short chain of four Amino acids (a.k.a. GQPR Peptide or Glycineglutamineproline-Arginine) connected to palmitic acid. Palmitic Acid is a fatty acid added to improve the peptide’s oil solubility and thus skin penetration. Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 serves as an anti-inflammatory after exposure to UVB-irradiation. Research has shown that long term use can lead to a reduction of facial wrinkles.

  • Panthenol: Metabolises in the skin to form Pantothenic Acid. It is a deep penetration moisturiser and stimulates cell proliferation. It acts as an anti-inflammatory agent and is effective in treating acute sunburn.

  • Polysorbate 20: A non-irritant preservative.

  • Sodium Benzoate: Alternative to parabens, less irritation.

  • Theobroma Grandiflorum Seed Butter: Cupuacu Butter, also known as Theobroma Grandiflorum Seed Butter, comes from the Cupuacu Tree. The pulp of the fruit that the tree bears provide Cupuacu Butter. It is a modern plant-based alternative to Lanolin, which is a major sensitizer and produces untoward allergies and side effects in many individuals. Cupuacu’s ability to penetrate the skin quickly (transdermal penetration), and then retain moisture, is unparalleled and far superior to Shea Butter or Lanolin. Cupuacu Butter offers the capacity to attract water allowing it to function much more effectively as a skin hydrator and plumper.

  • Tocopherol: Tocopherol (or Vitamin E) is an important fat-soluble antioxidant and has been in use for more than 50 years in dermatology. It is an important ingredient in many cosmetic products. It protects the skin from various deleterious effects due to solar radiation by acting as a free-radical scavenger.

Ingredients we have added

  • Silybum Marianum Ethyl Ester: A milk thistle extract and a potent source of flavonolignans which have been found to exhibit anti-collagenase and anti-elastase activity, two enzymes which can destroy the elasticity and firmness of the skin. Inhibition of these could help to protect the skin and prolong the appearance of a more youthful glow.

  • Arachidyl Alcohol: Less irritating non-petrochemical preservative.

  • C20-22 Alkyl Phosphate: Less irritating non-petrochemical preservative.

  • Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil: Has an anti-inflammatory effect and can be used on a variety of skin conditions including infection and ageing, as well as wound healing. It has also been shown to have hydrating and photo-protective properties.

  • Saccharide Isomerate: Is clinically proven to provide short and long-term hydration. It is in an aqueous solution that improves and strengthens the skin barrier function. The effects of the Saccharide Isomerate lasts for 72 hours.

  • C20-22 Alcohol: Less irritating non-petrochemical preservative.

  • Behenyl Alcohol: Less irritating non-petrochemical preservative.

  • Hydrolyzed Corn Protein and Wheat Protein: Hydrolyzed proteins are among a group of key nutrients that are often referred to as the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF).

  • Phenoxyethanol: Less irritating non-petrochemical preservative.

  • Arachidyl Glucoside: Reduces TEWL.

  • Parfum: Gender neutral, low allergen.

  • Sodium Gluconate: Skin-smoothing agent.

  • Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea Fruit Extract: A natural active ingredient obtained from plant stem cells using an environmentally friendly bio-technological process that provides a higher level of efficacy. Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea can repair and protect skin against the oxidative damage caused by solar radiations such as UV and IR-A, improving skin’s antioxidant activity, reducing wrinkles and spots, and improving moisturisation, firmness and elasticity. The result is skin with a young and healthy appearance, which is more resilient against sun damage.

  • Sodium Hydroxide: pH adjuster to ensure product stability.

  • Benzoic Acid: Non-irritating alternative to Parabens.

  • Dehydroacetic Acid: Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent.

  • Sodium Lactate: Applied topically this acid resurfaces the skin, leaving you with a brighter, smoother and more even toned complexion. Lactic Acid encourages cellular turnover, helping to sweep away dull, scarred tissue to reveal, fresher, younger and smoother skin.

  • Citric Acid: Citric acid is an AHA, and as such it can exfoliate skin. It can treat several skin problems like mild acne, pigmentation, clogged pores, photo-damage, wrinkles, and dark spots.

  • Sodium Citrate: pH adjuster to ensure product stability.

  • Glucose: Anti-melanocte properties.

  • Pantolactone: Humectant for added hydration.

  • Xanthan Gum: Environmentally friendly thickening agent.

  • Gluconolactone: Reduces sebum.

  • Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1: Also known as pal-GHK, palmitoyl oligopeptide and palmitoyl, this synthetic fatty acid-linked peptide can help repair visible skin damage. It strengthens the skin’s underlying supportive elements and is categorised as a messenger Peptide because of its ability to “tell” skin how to look better, specifically in regard to visibly fading signs of sun damage like wrinkles and rough texture.

  • Calcium Gluconate: Humectant for added hydration.
